NCFT has been rolling out a ton of new programming in 2011, and though I had the best of intentions, there are just not enough hours in the day to produce a quality podcast. I may revisit this podcast in the future, and so keep this placeholder. You can see me more often now on video. -DT

Fox allowed this on the air. No surprise since they also allowed him to say that Obama was a Vampire and the only way to stop him would be to “drive a steak through his heart.” For more on Gun Control and The 2nd amendment see: http://www.guninformation.org/ Follow Dennis Trainor, Jr on Twitter, facebook, & subscribe to this free podcast on itunes Listener mail for Acronym can be sent here. "True compassion," King declared, "is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring." King did not see U.S. foreign policy as something disconnected from the edifice that needed restructuring; just the opposite. When King was killed, he was traveling the country to rally support for the Poor People’s Campaign. He envisioned "a multiracial army of the poor" that would descend on Washington — engaging in nonviolent civil disobedience at the Capitol, if need be — until Congress enacted a poor people's bill of rights. In King’s words, Congress had displayed "hostility to the poor" by appropriating "military funds with alacrity and generosity," but providing "poverty funds with miserliness." When King delivered his “Beyond Vietnam” speech at Riverside Church exactly one year before his death he said: “Over the past two years, as I have moved to break the betrayal of my own silences and to speak from the burnings of my own heart, as I have called for radical departures from the destruction of Vietnam, many persons have questioned me about the wisdom of my path…” In defending accusations from within his own ranks that peace and civil rights don’t mix, King said: “I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today -- my own government. For the sake of those boys, for the sake of this government, for the sake of the hundreds of thousands trembling under our violence, I cannot be silent.” This prompted Life magazine to write that Kings words were "demagogic slander that sounded like a script for Radio Hanoi" and lead Reader’s Digest to warn of a coming “insurrection.” There was no insurrection. Acronym podcast notes 1.13.11: Many are shaking their heads in disbelief that Sarah Palin would choose a term whose etymology is linked to the propaganda that ingrained the anti-Semitic lie in the minds of many that Jews drink the blood of Christian children during religious ceremonies. That Palin released her video statement just hours before President Obama spoke at a memorial service for the slaughtered victims of a political assassination attempt on a Jewish Congresswoman had many political pundits claiming that the Sarah Palin freak show had finally jumped the shark. Did she really though? And Ralph Nader champions a Progressive- Libertarian Alliance. How, exactly would that work? That, plus- a musical interlude and listener mail. Acronym podcast notes/ 1.12.11: Al Franken is ramping up his opposition to the proposed merger between cable giant Comcast and NBC Universal. The latest on the developing story of Jarred Lee Loughner including how the media is treating this with kid gloves & just when you thought that Fred Phelps and the WBC could sink no further, they are protesting the deaths of the shooting victims. Yes according to Phelps, GOD HATES FAGS and, apparently, GOD HATES 9 year old girls who have recently been elected to student council and then shot and killed by political assassin Jared Lee Loughner. Also… Sarah Palin, in a bit of fire and brimstone outlandishness is pushing back against journalists and pundits for manufacturing (her words) “BLOOD LIBEL” by suggesting that a candidate whose district was literally put in the cross hairs by her political action committee wound up with a bullet in her head. Apparently the staffer whom GOD TOLD HER TO HIRE and write her crib notes on her hand failed to inform her that "blood libel," is the old and false accusation that Jews secretly murder Christian children as part of their religious rituals. All that, and some viewer mail. The Reverend Billy Talen, with his partner Savitri D, are the leaders of a radical performance community called the Church of Life After Shopping. Members of the new Republican-led House of Representatives are set to take part Thursday in an unusual reading of the U.S. Constitution on the floor of the chamber. Tea Party Purists hold onto the Constitution as if GOD carved it in stone. (The white God, with the beard, not the Muslim dude) Very well. I would only add that the constitution is a document to be admired especially because it allows itself to be amended. The Tea Party purists are holding onto to something that, by definition, can't be held to tightly because it an ever evolving document. Try explaining that to a tea partier, however, and you are likely to get your teeth knocked down your throat. In my case, offending the Randian Regressive Tea Party folk is a "pre-existing condition" and may not be covered under my health plan.
