Members of the new Republican-led House of Representatives are set to take part Thursday in an unusual reading of the U.S. Constitution on the floor of the chamber.

Tea Party Purists hold onto the Constitution as if GOD carved it in stone. (The white God, with the beard, not the Muslim dude)

Very well.

I would only add that the constitution is a document to be admired especially because it allows itself to be amended. The Tea Party purists are holding onto to something that, by definition, can't be held to tightly because it an ever evolving document. Try explaining that to a tea partier, however, and you are likely to get your teeth knocked down your throat. In my case, offending the Randian Regressive Tea Party folk is a "pre-existing condition" and may not be covered under my health plan.

January 4th 2011:

The new No Cure For That launches, Obama’s Health Care reform is in jeopardy, more than a thousand dead birds fall from the sky, Glenn Beck predicts the end of America, AGAIN.

All of that and my interview with Code Pink and Global Exchange co-founder Medea Benjamin.

Medea Benjamin is a co-founder of both CODEPINK and the international human rights organization Global Exchange.  She has been a tireless advocate for social justice for more than 20 years. Described as "one of America’s most committed -- and most effective -- fighters for human rights" by New York Newsday, and called "one of the high profile leaders of the peace movement" by the Los Angeles Times, Medea has distinguished herself as an eloquent and energetic figure in the progressive movement.
